The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has pointedly altered the direction towards changing the ways we used to work many of us working from home now. It has been found to have accompanied in changes and some major challenges to the IT networking environment. The networks of organization's all over the world are being redesigned to accommodate an era where a massive proportion of the employees work remotely, while keeping high levels of security all through.

Reconsidering Network Design:

Current policies in network security reflect the fact that increased telecommuting in the workforce cannot rely on the old network models before used within the offices. Here’s how companies are adapting:

Scalability and Flexibility: This is a particularly important consideration with the new addition of many more users or what can be referred to as remote workers since it means that a larger scale of networks is required. Hence, cloud based solutions can no longer be ignored since it can provide resources that can be scaled based on the requirement of the users.

Better Connectivity: Pretty much all employees depend on the internet connection since they work remotely. As for VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) which are typically used they can get filled with people and slow down. This is where Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN) come in; they offer an enhanced service for delivering data across a wide area network. A technology known as SD-WAN can give better, routing traffic through parallel connections like broadband and LTE to guarantee that no link slows down the system.

Undertaking Security Challenges:

The growth in remote working has thus created more or new ways for attackers to get into the business networks, which in turn has required the need for greater security.

Endpoint Security: These endpoints are more clear to threats because of the remote working idea with personal gadgets or corporate devices. Tools such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) performs the monitoring and responding functions for risks at the per-device level. In due regard, it is also necessary to update software and patch frequently to close doors to potential weaknesses.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Since MFA demands another layer of identification, the rate of cases where individuals get motivated by stolen passwords is lower than in cases where a single password is used to access a given network.

Secure Access Service Edge (SASE): SASE integrates networking and security without the need for any user hardware or on-premises software. When combined with key features such as SD-WAN; sase offers an integrated solution to soar security issues associated with, remote work spaces such as SEG, firewalls and ZTNA.

Remote work is likely to remain a priority for many organizations, meeting on these networking and security solutions will be vital to achieve optimal productivity and protect the organizations ‘assets and information. The ability also enable the keep of the business to accept the changes as a way of developing new grounds in the business. The above style of management is important for any organization that targets to continue being related and sustain its operations in the current emerging environment.
